Provision of protective equipment (PPE)
A recent TUC survey revealed that 11.6% of workers in the survey said their employers failed to do this, and a further 8.9% said they were charged if the equipment was damaged and needed replacing. The most common forms of protection used by those who responded to the survey were footwear (84%), gloves (72%) and overalls or aprons (50%). Two-thirds (60%) of workers said that they had to clean their equipment themselves or pay for it to be cleaned.
